What are Moles/Warts?

Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is a small, non-developed, and double-stranded DNA virus. More than 150 types of HPV have been recognized and can be categorized into Cutaneous HPV and Mucosal HPV.

Different types of warts

  • Common warts (verruca Vulgaris)
  • Filiform or Gitate warts
  • Plane warts
  • Palmar and Plantar warts
  • Periungual warts
  • Treatment RF cautery and CO2 laser.

Molluscum contagiosum

The virus is transmitted through skin contact or occasionally through fomites. Also, sexual transmission is seen in young adults.

Treatment RF cautery and CO2 laser.

Moles: can be removed by surgical CO2 laser.
 

Skin Tag, Keloid, Cyst Removal

Keloid:

Keloids and hypertrophic scars are the result of an overgrowth of fibrous tissue following healing of a cutaneous injury and cause morbidity.

The most commonly used modalities are pressure, silicone gel sheets, intralesional steroids, surgical excision and lasers.

Cyst:

Cutaneous cysts are very common and epidermoid cysts constitute 80% of the cutaneous cysts.

Different surgical techniques for cutaneous cysts include punch removal, incisional excision, elliptical excision, excision with secondary healing.

Skin tag:

A skin tag is a small, soft, flesh-colored benign skin growth, often on a stalk. Skin tags are probably the single most common bump on adult skin. Skin tags are harmless but can be an annoying skin problem. Skin tags tend to occur on the eyelids, neck, armpits, groin folds, and under breasts.
