What causes Acne Scars? How can Acne scars be treated with Fractional CO2 Laser Treatment?

Acne scarring occurs when excess collagen builds up in your skin. This happens when the body puts too much effort into healing the wounds caused by acne. If this excess collagen remains in your skin for a long period of time, it may result in acne scarring. Acne scars may occur naturally or as in most cases, patients may worsen the situation by picking their acne spots. Acne scarring can damage your skin on the back, the chest and the face. Not all cases result in true acne scars. Some cases result in just an excess of pigmentation, which may fade over a period of a few years. It may appear as a textured skin, but normally they are not permanent like acne scars.

The newly introduced fractional laser technology can treat acne and scars effectively. The treatment is painless and excellently resurfaces the skin by reducing the pore size. The treatment effectively helps skin appear smooth and also works on pimple scars. Before starting the procedure, Topical anaesthetics are applied to make the treatment more comfortable.

At Aura, we offer a wide range of treatments to fight against various acne scars. You just need to fix an appointment with one of our skin specialists to get your skin assessed and they will plan an individualized treatment for you.

Fractional Co2 Laser - Us FDA Approved Lumenis Acupulse

Acne scarring is caused by the body effectively putting “too much effort” into healing the wounds cause by acne, causing an excess of collagen built up in the skin.  Acne scarring can occur naturally, or in many cases patients can exacerbate their scarring by picking their spots.  Scarring can affect the back or the chest, as well as the face. This collagen may stay in place permanently, creating acne scarring.  In some cases the result is not a true scar, but simply an access of pigmentation.  This may fade away over a few months or years, but generally isn’t permanent as with other acne scars, which can appear as textured skin.
Acne and scars can be treated with new introduced fractional laser technology. Absolutely painless treatment, excellent results for pores and skin resurfacing of scars. The treatment helps in correcting pores and skin appearance, along with pimples scars also. The topical anaesthetic is applied before the procedure which makes treatment relatively comfortable.
At aura we offer a range of treatments which can combat the whole range of acne scars.  You need to fix up an appointment with one of our skin specialist so that your skin can be assessed and develop an appropriate treatment for you.

Chemical Peel

Chemical peeling is a technique used to improve the skin’s appearance. A chemical solution is applied to the skin which causes it to separate, peel off, and allows regeneration of new skin. The new skin is smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin, and may also be more even in colour.

Millions of chemical peels are performed each year. Dermatologists have used various peeling agents for decades and are experts in performing all types of such chemical peels. Today, as more and more people are taking interest in rejuvenating their skin and slowing the effects of the ageing process, chemical peeling has emerged as an exciting anti-aging procedure.
Results of chemical peels may also be enhanced by new laser/light-based rejuvenation techniques. However, a thorough evaluation by your dermatologist is always necessary before you choosing this procedure.

Where can it be used?

•    Melasma
•    Acne Vulgaris (Microcomedones, Inflammatory acne, Greasy oily skin)
•    Hyperpigmentation disorders
•    Anti-aging
•    Photodamaged skin (Fine wrinkles, textural alterations, diffuse dyschromias, yellowing and mottling)

How are chemical peels performed?

The procedure can be performed on the face, neck, chest, hands, arms and legs. Superficial, medium, or deep chemical peels may be used to improve damaged skin. As a rule, deeper the peel, longer the recovery time. Your dermatologist will recommend the best peel as per your skin problems.
Prior to treatment, instructions may include stopping certain medications and preparing the skin with pre-conditioning creams.
A chemical peel is usually performed in a dermatologist’s clinic. The skin is thoroughly cleansed with an agent that removes excess oils, and the eyes and hair are protected.
One or more chemical solution such as glycolic acid, trichloroacetic acid, salicylic acid, lactic acid, or carbolic acid are used. Proper peeling agents are prescribed based on the current damage of your skin and desired results.

During the peeling procedure, a solution is applied to the part of the body being treated. These applications produce separation and eventually peel off layers of skin, enabling rejuvenated skin to appear.

During the procedure patients experience a warm to hot sensation that may last for about five to ten minutes, followed by a stinging sensation.
